A Model System of Care

The Drucker Brain Injury Center at Jefferson has been designated by the federal government as a Traumatic Brain Injury Model System (TBIMS) since 1997 for its culture of research integrated with care – the only such center in the mid-Atlantic area.


A Model System is a center of excellence for both treatment and research related to a particular disability. It is funded by the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR).


NIDRR gives Model System awards to centers with:

  • A strong track record of excellent clinical care and treatment
  • The ability to carry out a program of research on outcome prediction and treatment
  • A superior record of publications, presentations and other knowledge dissemination and teaching TBI rehabilitation

Our TBI Team

At the Drucker Brain Injury Center, patients with TBI and their families will receive care from several members of our team, including physiatrists, neuropsychologists, speech therapists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, recreational therapists, social workers, and rehabilitation nurses.
