MossRehab Attending Physician Ning Cao, MD, recently received certification from the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ABPMR) in brain injury medicine. Dr. Cao, a specialist in stroke rehabilitation and pain management, was already certified by the ABPMR in physical medicine and rehabilitation. Brain injury medicine is one of seven subspecialties. 

"This achievement enhances our clinical strength and reinforces the high standards and dedication of our medical staff," says Alberto Esquenazi, MD, MossRehab's chief medical officer. "All MossRehab physicians are board certified and many have board certification in their respective sub-specialty."

Dr. Cao becomes the fourth physician at the MossRehab Drucker Brain Injury Center to receive brain injury medicine certification. The others are Thomas Watanabe, MD,  Michael Marino, MD,  and Miriam Segal, MD. 

Dr. Cao has worked as a clinician, researcher and educator in the area of stroke rehabilitation and recovery. 

Prior to MossRehab, Dr. Cao was the medical director for stroke in the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department at Johns Hopkins University and Medical Center, where she received the Golden Goniometer award for Best Teacher of the Year. 

Dr. Cao is a member of the Association of Academic Physiatrists, the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the International Spine Intervention Society. She is a certified acupuncturist and also a registered musculoskeletal sonographer with interest in musculoskeletal disorders.
