Dixie P. James Appointed President and COO for MossRehab

Dixie P. James has been appointed President and Chief Operating Officer for Einstein Medical Center Philadelphia, Einstein Medical Center Elkins Park, MossRehab, Willowcrest, and Center One. James joined Einstein in 2008 and has taken on increasing responsibilities and leadership roles, most recently serving as Vice President of Strategy and Service Line Operations. During her tenure, James has provided leadership to expand Einstein services, technology, outpatient locations, managed budgets and capital spending, and oversaw quality and patient experience for a variety of clinical departments.

“Dixie James is a natural leader with keen analytical, business intelligence and problem-solving skills which have advanced various critical strategic initiatives throughout our Network and her efforts have helped increase volume, expand market presence, and increase market share,” says Barry R. Freedman, President and Chief Executive Officer for Einstein Healthcare Network. “In her new role as Chief Operating Officer, I’m confident Dixie will leverage her impressive talents and diverse healthcare experience to position Einstein for success and will greatly influence the healthcare arena in the coming years.”

Some of James’ accomplishments over the course of her tenure include: planned for the opening of Einstein Medical Center Montgomery, a 171-bed technologically-advanced hospital in East Norriton, rapidly expanded Einstein’s ambulatory network footprint, launched a telehealth program, and expanded clinical departments including Cardiology and Digestive Disease and Transplantation.

James’ number one priority is improving the patient experience at Einstein as well as helping to enhance the lives of people in the communities that Einstein serves. She makes it a priority to partner with community organizations to jointly meet the health and wellness needs of the communities surrounding Einstein Medical Center Philadelphia.

James actively serves as Vice Chair of the Board of Philabundance, the largest hunger relief organization in the region and to help address food insecurity, in partnership with Philabundance, James developed the Einstein Fresh For All Market, a free, weekly farmer’s market. She also sits on the Board of the Philadelphia Chapter of the American Heart Association (AHA), initially serving on the Multicultural Leadership Committee and she currently serves on the Social Impact Executive Committee. To help address heart disease, James led the partnership with the AHA to offer regular blood pressure and Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) screenings at ENON Baptist Church, one of Philadelphia’s largest churches.

Prior to joining Einstein Healthcare Network, James held management roles in Strategic Planning at Christiana Care Health System in Wilmington, DE, and Lifebridge Health in Baltimore, MD.

James earned a bachelor’s degree in Health Systems Management from the University of Connecticut, Storrs, CT, and a Master’s in Business Administration from Loyola College, Baltimore, MD.

She is a member of numerous professional organizations including the American College of Healthcare Executives, Society of Healthcare Strategy and Market Development, and the National Association of Health Services Executives.
