Course Description:
This 1.5 day intermediate level course will cover the continuum of physical therapy care for adults following a Traumatic Brain Injury. The content will focus on latest evidence to support evaluation strategies, outcome measures, interventions and management of common co-morbidities in this population. Video case presentations will guide discussion of the principles of examination, treatment planning, interventions, and advancement in low, moderate and high functioning patients with traumatic brain injury. Special topics related to vision, behavior, learning and cognition, movement disorders, and the pediatric client will be addressed on Day 2. Clinicians treating individuals with TBI across the continuum care will gain new insights and strategies for managing this challenging population.

Course Learning Objectives:
After attending this conference participants will be able to:
- Describe the etiology and pathophysiology underlying TBI.
- Develop a framework for physical therapy examination for patients with TBI.
- Identify 3 common medical complications and comorbidities in individuals with TBI, and discuss how they impact treatment planning.
- Discuss the principles and practices of evidence-guided treatment for functions and activities of individuals with TBI.
- Apply examination findings to optimize treatment planning and goal setting.
