Course Description:  The Credentialed Clinical Instructor Program (CCIP) is intended for physical therapists and physical therapist assistants who work primarily in a clinical setting and are interested in developing their teaching abilities. The Credentialed Clinical Instructor Program is beneficial for both novice and experienced clinical educators. Participants will explore different aspects of the clinical learning environment and will learn skills and techniques necessary to provide a structured and effective learning environment for students. Skills for student evaluation and discussion about students with exceptional situations will also be explored. The goal is not to improve individual clinical skills, but to develop and refine each participant's ability to teach, instruct, and guide the development of his or her students. An ”Assessment Center” will give participants the opportunity to practice their skills in a simulated environment and successful completion of Assessment center activities is required to receive credential status.

Learning Objectives: Participant should be able to:
1. Plan and prepare for physical therapy students during their clinical education experience.
2. Support continuing education through questioning and effective feedback.
3. Acquire performance evaluation skills.
4. Identify and manage students with exceptional situations.
5. Recognize legal implications for clinical educators, including issues presented by the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Participants must bring a personal tablet or laptop computer in order to participate in the “Assessment Center”. Smart phones will not be adequate.
In order to receive CEU’s and credentialing, participant must participate in all sessions and successfully complete the Assessment Center activities.
