The REAL® System is a virtual reality (VR) rehabilitation device that helps people with stroke improve mobility, postural control, range of motion, eye-hand coordination, decision making, memory processing, visual awareness, balance, and functional movements associated with activities of daily living.

Small, compact, mobile, and wireless, the REAL System includes a VR headset and sensors worn on the patient’s body. When using the device, patients are transported into a virtual world that projects a realistic visual representation of their arms and hands while participating in different activities.

The REAL System increases engagement in rehabilitation, so patients work longer and with greater repetitions, which are ingredients to better outcomes. The tool also helps tune out distractions in the environment that can overwhelm patients with certain brain injuries.
