This year marks the 120th anniversary of MossRehab’s leadership in physical medicine and rehabilitation. And we are celebrating all year long! Join us by sharing your stories with us.
As a pioneer in rehabilitation, technology and physical therapy techniques, we’ve worked with thousands of patients over the years to overcome obstacles related to brain injuries, stroke, Parkinson’s disease, spinal cord injuries, sports injuries and many other needs. Check out our history timeline here.
But the story is not about us. We are inspired by our patients and their strength in finding the courage to move forward every day. Recovery involves more than therapies and restorative sciences. It requires a strong will, hard work, and hope to take those steps towards recovery.
Where We Started
Beginning as the Lucien Moss Home in 1900, the Moss Rehabilitation Hospital (later changed to MossRehab) was established in 1959. At that time, MossRehab was an innovator in the field of physical rehabilitative medicine that was just taking shape.
In the 1960s, MossRehab became a stroke evaluation center and initiated programs for arthritis, peripheral vascular disease, chronic pulmonary disease and neurological disorders. In the 1990s, MossRehab became a part of the Einstein Healthcare Network and launched the Moss Rehabilitation Research Institute that conducts many studies to develop new treatments for neurorehabilitation.
Today, it is one of the country’s most clinically advanced rehabilitation hospitals, with more than 10 freestanding outpatient centers throughout the Philadelphia area.
