Our specialists have helped more inpatients with amputation and prosthetics achieve better results than is achieved on average by other amputation rehabilitation facilities in Philadelphia, as well as the tri-state area of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware. The change in our amputee clinic inpatients’ functional independence measure (improvement in functional mobility) from admission to discharge consistently exceeds the outcomes of people treated in other rehabilitation facilities in the region and nation.
MossRehab boasts 23 physicians who are board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation. Four of these physicians have sub-specialties in amputation, including chief medical officer Alberto Esquenazi, MD, who not only edited a manual on rehab after amputation for the World Health Organization, but brings personal insight into amputation, having lost his right hand during medical school. We provide rehab at eight amputee clinics located throughout the region, covering care from immediately after surgery through re-entry into the community.
The therapists and physicians at our amputee physical therapy clinics are highly knowledgeable about prosthetics and our prosthetic rehabilitation center can work directly with a prosthetics provider to fabricate and modify prostheses. Our specialized laboratories services, including the Sheerr Gait and Motion Analysis Laboratory and the MossRehab Driving Program, provide an extra level of care and analysis. Pioneering Technology
MossRehab's Amputation Program introduced the use of the AlterG® Antigravity-treadmill® to allow people with leg amputation to return to walking early in the rehabilitation process. Through the Sheerr Gait and Motion Analysis Lab, we work to identify the causes of ambulation problems and make recommendations for specific treatment interventions.
