THE UPPER EXTREMITY (UE) MAINTENANCE PROGRAM

Overcome physical challenges with our post-stroke upper limb exercise program. Individuals with stroke are often unable to use conventional exercise or gym equipment due to motor deficits, balance, cognitive deficits or physical inabilities. As a result, they can have decreased activity levels, low cardiorespiratory fitness levels, mobility and increased energy demands post-stroke. 

The Jefferson Moss-Magee Rehabilitation Upper Extremity (UE) Maintenance Program is available for patients with UE hemiparesis resulting from stroke who have recently completed outpatient rehabilitation and would like to continue their post-stroke upper limb rehabilitation occupational therapy at the clinic on a structured basis. 

This hemiparesis physical therapy program offers state-of-the-art technology directly targeting upper extremity needs utilizing equipment that is not available in standard gym facilities. Staff supervision and some assistance with setting up equipment are offered, but clients are expected to be able to execute their exercises independently once instructed by staff or by their occupational therapist. 

The program offers several function-based and task-oriented activities, including mirror therapy, Saebo Technologies and constraint induced movement therapy (CIMT) concepts. 

CONTINUED UPPER LIMB STROKE REHABILITATION OPTIONS

The UE Maintenance Program offers three hemiparesis treatments:

• Full Maintenance - For individuals who have completed a course of care at Jefferson Moss-Magee Rehabilitation - Jenkintown occupational therapy program and need direct supervision or minimal assistance to complete structured program. 
• Half-Maintenance/Half "Crossover" - For individuals who have completed a course of care at Jefferson Moss-Magee Rehabilitation - Jenkintown occupational therapy program and are almost fully independent in their program.
• Full "Crossover" - For individuals who have completed a course of care at Jefferson Moss-Magee Rehabilitation - Jenkintown occupational therapy program and are fully independent in their program or have the help of a caregiver. 

Our continued upper limb rehabilitation occupational therapy is a self-pay program. The cost is $60 per month for three days per week, $40 per month for two days per week or $20 per month for one day per week.
