Aquatic Therapy

Aquatic therapy helps people with a wide range of disorders requiring rehabilitation, such as arthritis or back injuries, as well as people who have had joint replacement surgery. Skilled pool therapy is an individualized treatment program developed by a licensed therapist based on the patient's physical therapy evaluation.

The warmth, buoyancy, and resistive property of water can help reduce pain and stiffness, maintain flexibility and enhance functional mobility.

  • Aquatic therapy takes place in a specially designed, heated, 8,800-gallon therapeutic pool. A lift is available for patients with special needs.
  • The Arthritis Aquatics Program is a maintenance program in which group exercise is overseen by a licensed physical therapist and conducted by instructors who are specially trained and certified by the Arthritis Foundation. Exercise is performed to music.
  • The Moss Muscle Builders pool program is a maintenance program in which clients conduct their own individual aquatic exercise program. A physical therapy aide provides supervision and vital sign monitoring.

Maintenance programs are generally not covered by health insurance and require direct payment by the patient.
