Rehabilitation Considerations: Post Anterior Approach Total Hip Replacement

Intended audience: physical and occupational therapists
This intermediate-level learning activity, exclusively for physical and occupational therapists, will focus on the examination and management of therapy in persons who have undergone the anterior hip replacement procedure. The lecture will review anatomy and kinesiology as it pertains to the hip, surgical goals of anterior hip replacement, rehabilitation options, treatment considerations and recommendations.

At the completion of this learning activity, participants will be able to:
- Identify two differences between anterior approach and other THR approaches
- Identify the body structures most often affected by the anterior approach
- Identify the ideal expected outcomes for anterior approach patients
