Dr. Buxbaum’s primary areas of interest are:

  • Cognitive neuroscience research: for example, how to use a tool or other manipulable object appropriately, how the brain must integrate information about the object’s identity and function and the study of spatial attention and neglect

In addition to her work in MRRI, Dr. Buxbaum is an Associate Research Professor of Rehabilitation at Jefferson Medical College.

She has received funding for her research from the Nation Institutes of Health (NIH), the James S. McDonnell Foundation, the Albert Einstein Society, the National Institute for Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR), and the Pennsylvania Health Research Formula Funds.

Dr. Buxbaum has an extensive list of published research.  Her work has appeared in such publications as Neuropsychologia, Neurocase, Brain and Language, Brain and Cognition, Cognitive Neuropsychology, Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Visual Cognition, Neuropsychological Rehabilitation, Neurology, and many others.  She has also written numerous book chapters.

Dr. Buxbaum completed her doctorate in Psychology at Hahnemann University, where she also served an internship in Neuropsychology.  She received a NIH National Research Service Award (NRSA) for Post-Doctoral Fellowship at University of Pennsylvania and MRRI.
