Elkins Park, PA, March 18, 2008 – MossRehab, a national leader in medical rehabilitation, recognized early on that artistic talent and determination will not be deterred by disability. This was the motivation for creating the first All About Art show in 1979 featuring professional artists with disabilities. The show, which has had a successful run, continues this year with a new international juried exhibition and sale of art and fine crafts by artists with disabilities. All About Art at MossRehab opens with a Patrons’ Preview Party to be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, April 10 at Elkins Park Hospital, located at 60 East Township Line Road in Elkins Park. The eagerly anticipated opening gives patrons the opportunity to meet some of the artists and be the first to purchase art. There will be free valet parking at the opening and during exhibition hours. Tickets to opening night can be purchased by contacting Caren Moskowitz at 215-456-7211 or at the door. Thereafter, the show runs from April 11 through June 15 when it is free to the public daily from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Go to for more details. The exhibition showcases works by 68 artists, 30 of whom are new to All About Art. In addition to local artists, there are exhibitors from throughout the U.S., Israel, South Africa, Canada and India. Mediums include oils, watercolors, acrylics, mixed media, photography, sculpture, jewelry and pottery. Glass assemblages, enameled bamboo platters, lath-turned wood plates and encaustic paintings are new to the show. Prices range from $65 to $4,500. This year, the exhibition honors Mr. Robert Drucker and the late Susan Beneman, devoted MossRehab supporters. As the founder of MossRehab’s Drucker Brain Injury Center, Drucker’s commitment to people with disabilities is nationally renowned, and includes the art show and the MossRehab Clubhouse, an innovative community-based program that promotes personal success and self-sufficiency for those who experience brain injury. Beneman, who served as co-chair of the past two All About Art exhibitions, was instrumental in launching the show in 1979. A long-time advocate of artists with disabilities, she was a chair of the MossRehab board, and an active member of Albert Einstein Medical Center’s board. MossRehab’s permanent art collection will be named in her memory. The collection consists of more than 220 works by artists with disabilities from past shows Deborah Krupp, All About Art exhibition chair, was inspired to get involved on a visit to MossRehab for her daughter’s wheelchair evaluation. Krupp is quick to point out that the works, which are by professionals, would be indistinguishable from pieces by artists without disabilities if shown in a different venue. “Art is an embodiment of aesthetics and life experience,” remarks Krupp. “If you factor in the challenges faced by the artists, considering that many of them had to innovate new ways to work after disability, you are moved and motivated by the sheer power these artists have. Everyone can be inspired by coming to All About Art.” As a national leader in medical rehabilitation, MossRehab provides high-quality, compassionate medical care for individuals with physical disabilities.
