PT working on rehab

Aquatic Therapy can benefit people with a wide range of disorders including arthritis, back injuries and fracture, as well as people who have undergone joint replacement surgery. The warmth, buoyancy and resistive properties of water help reduce pain and stiffness while it facilitates joint mobility. Treatment in our 8,800-gallon heated pool is designed to improve strength, range of motion and mobility. The Arthritis Aquatics Program is a group exercise program, performed to music and overseen by licensed physical therapists. The instructors are trained and certified by the Arthritis Foundation. Aquatics therapy is available at the MossRehab locations on Tabor Road in Philadephia and at our Norristown facility. Learn more.

The Back Program provides comprehensive patient evaluations and treatment plans to help minimize back pain and its reoccurence. Under the direction of physical and occupational therapists, program participants learn pain management techniques and exercises and receive therapy in a heated pool. The Balance and Vestibular Center helps people who experience balance disorders including dizziness, lightheadedness, unsteadiness, motion sickness or frequent falls. Among the extensive diagnostic technology available at MossRehab is our SMART Balance Master® used to help establish a precise balance disorder diagnosis. After diagnosis, therapists develop and oversee each patient's tailored treatment plan. The Center is located at our Main Campus in Elkins Park, Pa. The Cardiac Rehabilitation Program is a clinically supervised exercise, education and support program designed to improve the heart health of patients recovering from heart attacks, heart surgery and coronary intervention procedures. Following a physician's referral, patients receive a thorough evaluation and a program is customized to restore the patient's health and meet his or her individual needs and goals. The Community Re-entry Program helps people with brain injuries re-learn the skills necessary to fully participate in activities of daily living. It also prepares and trains people with brain injury for gainful employment. Therapists and social workers provide support and guidance as they work within the community to help patients find job opportunities. The program is available at our Main Campus in Elkins Park, Pa., and our locations on Tabor Road in Philadelphia and in Woodbury, N.J. Learn more.

The Fitness Program offers members individualized exercise programs designed to increase strength, flexibility and endurance. Members use exercise equipment under the supervision of our physical therapy staff. 

The Hand Center offers comprehensive rehabilitation for carpal tunnel syndrome, fractures, tendonitis, tendon laceration, nerve injuries, congenital deformities and serious traumatic injuries involving replantations or microsurgery. Under the direction of physicians, trained therapists develop individualized treatment programs that help people return to work and active lives. Industrial Rehabilitation uses equipment to assess functional impairments in people injured on the job. Services include functional capacity evaluations (FCEs), ergonomic assessments and fit-for-duty testing. 

Lymphedema Management helps people with lymphedema that may have resulted from cancer or a lymphatic system disorder. Comprehensive decongestive physiotherapy is performed by certified lymphedema specialists who incorporate manual lymph drainage and the use of bandaging and comprehension garments, along with exercise and patient education. 

MossRehab Driving School helps people with disabilities and older adults gain the skills to become safe, competent drivers. Our state-licensed program is one of the most comprehensive on the East Coast. It is based in Jenkintown, Pa., but offers services at several locations, including Doylestown, Pa., Marlton and Woodbury, N.J., and Rehoboth Beach and Wilmington, De. Learn more.

Pediatric Rehabilitation specializes in caring for children from birth to 18 years of age. Spina bifida, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, developmental delay and severe orthopedic disorders are among the issues we address. Wheelchair Evaluation and Training identifies each patient's individual needs in order to make the correct selection of a wheelchair and any accompanying equipment. Therapists help ensure patient comfort and proper chair fit by using a pressure mapping system during their evaluations. In addition, they educate patients on the correct and safe use of their individual wheelchairs and any accompanying equipment. Wheelchair evaluation is offered at our Main Campus in Elkins Park, Pa., and at our Tabor RoadCenter City, and Blue Bell, Pa. locations.
