Long regarded as the leading provider of quality care for stroke patients, MossRehab treats more stroke patients than any other rehabilitation facility in the region. Patients ranging in age from 17 to 100 have sought us out for our comprehensive stroke rehabilitation program.
The MossRehab Stroke and Neurological Diseases Center treatment program is open to individuals who have functional impairment due to stroke, neurological diseases or related reasons. Patients receive treatment from a physiatrist-lead team of experts including occupational, physical, and recreational therapists, rehabilitation nurses, speech and language pathologists, physiologists, neuro-psychologists, social workers and medical management coordinators.
The Stroke Center treatment program is designed to help patients regain their independence, and because stroke can affect different aspects of functioning, treatment is tailored to each patient’s specific needs. Treatment begins on an inpatient basis. Follow-up care usually proceeds to outpatient or home therapy. Certain patients receive day hospital treatment before beginning outpatient therapy. MossRehab provides intensive rehabilitation while assisting patients and their families who are making the transition home.
MossRehab rehabilitation therapists work with patients to help them regain skills necessary for independent living:
- Cognitive rehabilitation provides treatment in areas including memory, reading, math, and daily planning.
- Neuropsychological and vocational evaluations and counseling programs assist patients who want to return to work or school.
- Adaptive Designs for Living provides recommendations to make the home or work site more accessible.
- MossRehab Driving Program provides evaluations, on-the-road instruction, and recommendations for vehicle modifications.
Related support services include:
- On-site diagnostic laboratories that provide physicians an advantage in identifying and treating conditions associated with stroke. The unique diagnostic labs available to patients are the Gait and Motion Analysis Laboratory, the Motor Control Analysis Laboratory and the Electrodiagnostic Center.
- The Center for Communication Disorders provides video-fluoroscope swallowing studies and audiologic services, including dispensing hearing aids.
- Orthotics Services enables manufactures orthotic devices, such as braces, on-site for patients who need them. This ensures proper fit and allows provision of prompt adjustments when needed.
