Knowing the warning signs of stroke can make the difference between life and death.
Stroke affects more than 600,000 Americans every year; more than 145,000 die from the condition. Yet, many people are not aware of the warning signs:
- Sudden weakness or numbness on one side of the body, especially in the face, arm or leg.
- Sudden dimness or loss of vision, especially in one eye.
- Loss of speech, or trouble talking or understanding speech.
- Sudden, severe headaches with no obvious cause.
- Unexplained dizziness, unsteadiness or sudden falls.
