MossRehab, a leader in the field of swallowing rehabilitation, is staffed with pathologists and physicians who specialize in evaluating and treating swallowing disorders by creating an innovative and comprehensive rehabilitation process that includes diagnostic analysis and intervention:

  • Individualized treatment programs for swallowing difficulties brought on by neurological injuries or diseases (e.g. stroke, vocal cord paresis or paralysis, Parkinson’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis)
  • Thermal/tactile sensory stimulation
  • Strengthening exercise programs
  • Head/postural maneuver training
  • Compensatory technique training
  • Educational resources for patients, family members, and health care professionals

We work closely with other health professionals such as gastroenterologists, rehabilitation physicians, and dietitians, to determine the best treatment approach and conclusive care.

Program Focus

We are fortunate to be involved in the medical care of various patients, with such diverse diagnoses. However, patients who underwent a CVA/Stroke or acquired brain injury are the norm for our caseload. Rehabilitation services for these types of patients commonly includes:

  • Objective analysis of swallowing physiology
  • Sensory and motor re-training
  • Diet-level modification (if needed)

Special Program Features

Some of the special technological services and tools that are available to our patients include:

  • Radiology department with video swallow assessment
  • Digital recording of swallow physiology
  • Pre-packaged food textures and liquids of all viscosity levels
  • Thermal sensory utensils
