Dr. Hart’s areas of interest are:

  • Executive functions: disorders of self-awareness, attention control, and other executive function deficits following brain injury.
  • Treatment outcomes in TBI
  • Assistive technology for cognitive/ behavioral disabilities:
  • The structure and “active ingredients” of rehabilitation
  • Vocational rehabilitation

In addition to her work at MRRI, Dr. Hart is a Research Associate Professor of Rehabilitation Medicine at Jefferson Medical College.

She has received funding for her research from the National Institutes on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR), the Albert Einstein Society, and the MRRI Peer Review Committee.

Dr. Hart has an extensive list of published work and has presented at scores of national and international scientific meetings. Her research has appeared in the Journal of Head Trauma Rehabilitation, Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Neuropsychological Rehabilitation and American Journal of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, as well as, other peer reviewed journals. She has also written numerous book chapters.

She received her BA in Psychology from Clark University and MA and PhD, both in Clinical Neuropsychology, from University of Houston. She is a Fellow of the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine and serves on its Board of Governors. Dr. Hart also serves on the Science Advisory Committees of two American Psychological Association divisions, and is a member of Pennsylvania’s Traumatic Brain Injury Advisory Board. She has provide expert peer review for numerous scientific panels including government research funding agencies in the US, Ireland, Canada and New Zealand.

Dr. Hart has received awards for outstanding research from the Brain Injury Association of Pennsylvania, the NYU/Rusk Rehabilitation Center, and Einstein Healthcare Network.
