Nathaniel Mayer, MD is board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation and is licensed to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

His areas of interest are:

  • Brain injury
  • Spasticity rehabilitation
  • Motor control disorders

Dr. Mayer is a pioneer in the rehabilitation of persons with traumatic brain injury. He is internationally known as an advocate for a functional approach to rehabilitation. He received the Sheldon Berrol Clinical Services Award from the National Head Injury Foundation for outstanding contributions to improving quality care, professional training and education in the field of head injury rehabilitation. He also serves as professor emeritus of physical medicine and rehabilitation at Temple University School of Medicine.

Dr. Mayer is a graduate of Columbia College. He received his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. He received a two-year fellowship from the National Institute of General Medical Science to study biomedical engineering at Drexel University.

Dr. Mayer has been recognized by Philadelphia magazine as one of the region's "Top Docs" and received the Pennsylvania Association of Rehabilitation Facilities award for excellence in rehabilitation.

Dr. Mayer has published and lectured widely and continues to work in research related to brain injury rehabilitation. He is the editor of the Journal of Head Trauma Rehabilitation.
