U.S.News & World Report “America’s Best” rehabilitation hospital

For 30 years MossRehab has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report, as one of “America’s Best” rehabilitation facilities. In 2023, MossRehab sat among the top ten rehabilitation providers in the U.S. and was top-ranked in Pennsylvania. Learn more.

In 2021, nine MossRehab doctors were recognized by their peers for being among the region’s “Top Doctors” as published in Philadelphia magazine. Learn more.

15 CARF Accreditations
15 MossRehab programs have received accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), for a period of three years – more CARF-accredited programs than any other facility listed in the U.S.News & World Report rankings for “America’s Best” rehabilitation hospitals.  

Accreditation for MossRehab’s Sheerr Gait and Motion Analysis Lab
MossRehab’s Sheerr Gait and Motion Analysis Laboratory has received three-year accreditation from the Commission for Motion Laboratory Accreditation. MossRehab is only the second adult rehabilitation facility in the nation to receive this credential.

 

"Top Workplace" MossRehab has been recognized by the Philadelphia Inquirer, Daily News and Philly.com as one of the Greater Philadelphia Area's "Top Workplaces" for eleven years in a row.

Award for Outstanding Nursing Quality

MossRehab was one of only six hospitals in the nation to receive a 2010 American Nurses Association National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI) Award for Outstanding Nursing Quality® based on patient outcomes.

Members of the MossRehab team have also received numerous awards and honors. These include:

Appointment as President of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
Alberto Esquenazi, MD, MossRehab chief medical officer served as President of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AAPM&R) in 2013.

Distinguished Academician Award
John Whyte, MD, PhD, Director of the Moss Rehabilitation Research Institute, received the 2010 Distinguished Academician award from the Association of Academic Physiatrists, an organization of faculty, researchers and others dedicated to the advancement of academic physiatry. Dr. Whyte was selected by his peers to receive the award for his excellence as a teacher, researcher and administrator. Dr. Whyte was also elected to the National Academy of Medicine in 2015.

Distinguished Clinician
Thomas Watanabe, MD, clinical director of the MossRehab Drucker Brain Injury Center, was named Distinguished Clinician at the 2016 Annual Assembly of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. 

Distinguished Scientist Award
Dr. Laurel Buxbaum was awarded the  Kenneth M. Viste Award of the American Society of Neurorehabilitation and Arthur S. Benton Mid-Career Award of the International Neuropsychological Society

Rehabilitation Leadership Award
Ruth Lefton, chief operating officer of Einstein Medical Center Philadelphia and Einstein Medical Center Elkins Park, received the 2010 Rehabilitation Leadership Award from the Pennsylvania Association of Rehabilitation Facilities (PARF).
